The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall alert for a limited batch of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips after milk, a common allergen, was detected as an undeclared ingredient in some packages. The recall was initiated following a customer complaint.

The affected packages are 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips, identified by the following details:
- UPC: 28400 31041
- Guaranteed Fresh Date: February 11, 2025
- Manufacturing Codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx
These mislabeled packages were distributed at retail locations in the states of Oregon and Washington, as well as sold online.
Consumer Risks
Milk is a common allergen, and inadvertent consumption by individuals with intolerance or allergies can cause serious adverse reactions, including:
- Anaphylaxis, with symptoms such as hives, nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, and, in extreme cases, cardiac arrest.
- Less severe reactions, such as abdominal pain and diarrhea.
